Paul McNeil is a graphic designer, writer and educator with extensive experience in brand communications and visual identity for the telecommunications, government, public and charity sectors.

He was Course Director of the MA Contemporary Typographic Media at the London College of Communication from 2010–15 and is currently teaching typography at the University for the Creative Arts.

In 2010, he co-founded MuirMcNeil with Hamish Muir, a design consultancy whose activities are focussed on exploring the use of systematic and generative methods in visual communications.

Seven years in the making, The Visual History of Type, McNeil’s definitive survey of type design from 1450 to 2015, was published in 2017 by Laurence King.
